Download and convert Instagram photos, videos and stories

These tools save public Instagram posts, Reels and stories as files, and convert videos and audio for Instagram. Paste a link or a username; you never log in, and we never ask for your password. Files are passed from Instagram's servers to you without being stored on ours, and the converters do all their processing in your browser.

Save your own posts, or content whose owner agreed. Every photo and Reel on Instagram has an owner, usually the person who shot it. Keeping a copy of your own work is fine; posting someone else's work as if it were yours is not. Our guide to downloading Instagram content explains the rules in plain words.

What can and cannot be downloaded

ContentWorks
Public posts, carousels and ReelsYes, from the post link
Public storiesYes, while they are live, from the username
Highlights of public accountsYes, as long as they are on the profile
Anything from a private accountNo; only approved followers can see it
Close Friends stories and direct messagesNo; they are never public
Short links with /share/Open them first, then copy the full post address

For your own account, Instagram offers a complete copy of your photos, videos and other data through Accounts Center (Instagram Help Center (opens in a new tab), checked November 2026). That is the best way to back up everything you have posted.

Tips for clean downloads

  • Copy the link from the Share menu. In the app, tap the paper plane under a post, then Copy link. Tracking parameters at the end are removed for you.
  • Use the profile grid for several posts. Paste a profile link, tick the posts you want, and save them together as one ZIP.
  • Save stories the same day. Stories disappear after 24 hours unless the owner adds them to a highlight.
  • Give credit when you share. If an owner lets you repost, name them in the caption and tag the account.

On a phone or on a computer

All download tools work in a mobile browser as well as on a computer. On an iPhone, Safari saves files to the Files app, from where you can move photos and videos to your library; on Android, they go to the Downloads folder, which most gallery apps also show. On a computer, files go to your usual download folder. ZIP files of several posts are easiest to handle on a computer, where you can unpack them with a double click.

Download questions

Does the account owner see that I downloaded something?

No. The tools do not use your Instagram account, so nothing is linked to you. That does not change the owner's rights to the content.

Do downloads lose quality?

No. You get the files as Instagram serves them, in the largest size available.

Is there a limit?

To keep the service free for everyone, each visitor can make up to 40 lookups an hour and 150 a day, and download up to 300 files an hour. A ZIP holds up to 30 files.
